White Oak Arbors and Pergolas
White oak is a straight grained, heavy wood with good bending and crushing strength. Harvested in the midwest, the heartwood of this species is resistant to decay due to its unique cellular structure. It is an excellent wood for painting and staining. White Oak is used for outdoor furniture, shipbuilding, agricultural implements, timber bridges, railway sleepers, arbors and pergolas.
Garden Getaway Gazebos' Arbor and Pergola are constructed with interlocking joinery no screws or bolts.
"One of my most memorable childhood toys were Lincoln Logs," states Garden Getway Gazebos owner, Rick Salm. "They left quite an impact and I have incorporated the same interlocking method into the arbor and pergola."
The addition of the woven oak strips not only enhances the design, but serves the function of locking the pieces together. Predrilled holes in the angle braces allow for the insertion of dowels to complete the final assembly.
